Cursor Pricing 2026: Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra Explained

SpaceX announced a deal to buy Cursor's maker Anysphere on June 16, 2026. On October 12, its pricing was rebuilt around The X Subscription: one plan that covers Cursor, Grok, Grok Bot and X Premium.

Three things changed for anyone buying Cursor today:

**The plan names.** Hobby, Pro, Pro+ and the old Teams plans are closed to new customers. The new tiers are Free, Plus ($8), Premium ($30), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200).

**How usage works.** Each paid plan has one usage pool shared across Cursor and the Grok products, and it refreshes weekly instead of monthly. One heavy day no longer wipes out your month.

**Third-party models.** Claude, GPT and Gemini are no longer part of any new plan's allowance. On Premium and above you can still use them, billed at API list price from prepaid credit. On Plus, only Grok models are available.

The Free plan gives you limited agent and chat requests in the Cursor editor, limited Grok chat and image generation, and Grok Build with limits. No credit card is needed.

It is enough to install Cursor, open a real project and see whether the editor fits how you work. It is not enough for daily professional use, and it does not include cloud agents or third-party models.

Plus is the cheapest paid tier. It adds a basic shared usage pool, Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, Grok API access, and X Premium perks like the checkmark and fewer timeline ads.

For developers, the limits matter more than the price. Plus runs Grok models only. It has no cloud agents, no code hosting, no Bugbot code reviews and no access to Claude, GPT or Gemini. Cursor itself recommends Plus for social creators with limited AI use, and that is an honest description.

If you are choosing Cursor for coding, treat Plus as a trial with a payment attached and start at Premium.

Premium is where Cursor becomes a full coding tool again. You get 4x the usage of Plus, the latest Grok models (Grok 4.7 is the current default for long agent runs), cloud agents and automations, code hosting, AI code reviews through Bugbot, and access to third-party models at API list price.

The usage pool covers Cursor's own models: Grok 4.7, 4.6 and 4.5, and Composer 2.5. It refreshes every week. If you run out, you can buy a top-up or wait for the refresh, and you can turn on auto top-up with a monthly spending cap.

Third-party models are the cost to watch. Under the old Pro plan, Claude and GPT came out of your $20 of included credit. On Premium they are billed on top, per token, at the provider's list price. A rough example from the listed rates: an agent task that reads 200,000 tokens and writes 20,000 costs about $0.60 on Claude Sonnet 5.5 ($2 per million input tokens, $10 per million output). Run ten of those every working day on Claude and you add roughly $120 a month to the $30 subscription.

If you are comfortable doing most of your work on Grok and Composer, Premium at $30 is a fair price. If your workflow depends on Claude or GPT for every task, Premium is no longer the cheap way to get them.

Super gives 15x the usage of Plus and priority model access at peak times. Cursor recommends it for daily agent users. In practice it makes sense when you hit the Premium pool before the weekly refresh most weeks.

Ultra gives 50x the usage of Plus and earliest access to new products and models. It is for developers running several cloud agents in parallel through the whole working day.

Neither tier includes third-party models. A higher tier gives you more Grok and Composer usage, not cheaper Claude. If your heavy usage is on Claude or GPT, upgrading to Super does not help with that bill.

Teams starts at $30 per user per month. Usage is pooled across the team, and admins can mix seat types, so a heavy agent user can sit on a higher seat while the rest of the team stays at the base level.

Teams adds centralised billing and administration, usage analytics, team-wide privacy settings, custom chat data retention, SAML or OIDC single sign-on, and a team marketplace for internal rules, skills and plugins.

Enterprise is custom-priced and adds invoice billing, SCIM seat management, granular spend controls, audit logs, and controls over which repositories, models and MCP servers people can use. Third-party models are billed at API list price on Teams and Enterprise too.

Nothing happens to an existing plan automatically. Cursor says your legacy plan, price and features continue unless you change or cancel. The old Pro ($20), Pro+ ($60), Ultra ($200) and Teams plans stay available to people already on them, but are closed to new customers.

Legacy plans keep working the old way: monthly usage, with your existing included allowance for third-party models, and on-demand billing beyond it. That allowance is the main reason not to switch in a hurry if you rely on Claude or GPT.

Two things to know before you decide. Switching to The X Subscription is permanent; you cannot go back to the legacy plan. And the new plans are not all downside: Cursor says each paid X Subscription plan includes at least twice as much usage on Cursor's own models as the legacy plan it replaces, plus Grok and X benefits.

A simple rule: if most of your agent work runs on Claude or GPT, stay on your legacy plan for now. If you already use Grok or Composer for most tasks, switching to Premium gets you at least double that usage, a weekly pool and the Grok and X perks for $10 more. Legacy Pro already includes cloud agents and Bugbot, so those are not a reason to switch.

Learning to code, or coding a few hours a month: Free. Do not pay yet.

Coding professionally, mostly happy on Grok and Composer: Premium at $30.

Running agents all day and hitting the Premium pool every week: Super at $100.

Several cloud agents in parallel, all day: Ultra at $200.

A team that needs SSO, shared billing and admin controls: Teams from $30 per user.

Skip Plus for coding. It is cheaper, but it removes the features that make Cursor worth paying for.

The pricing change moved Cursor from the middle of the market to the top of the entry level.

GitHub Copilot Pro costs $10 a month and includes $15 of GitHub AI Credits ($10 base plus a $5 flex allotment) for agent mode, code review and cloud agents. Pro+ costs $39 and includes $70 of credits, and adds delegating tasks to third-party agents like Claude and OpenAI Codex. Copilot works in VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse and Xcode.

Devin Desktop, the editor formerly called Windsurf, costs $20 a month for Pro. Its quota includes frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and SpaceXAI, plus free use of its own SWE-2 model and access to Devin Cloud agents. That is the key difference: Claude usage comes out of the Devin Pro quota, while on Cursor Premium it is billed on top.

Cursor still has the strongest editor for multi-file agent work. Whether that is worth $30 plus third-party usage, against $10 for Copilot or $20 for Devin Desktop, depends on how much you use agents and which models you rely on. Do not pay if you are learning to code. Cursor writes code you need to read and debug. Start with the Free plan, or with Lovable or Bolt if you want to build without coding.

Do not pay for Premium if you mainly want autocomplete. Copilot Pro does that well for a third of the price.

Do not switch from a legacy plan just because the new one is shiny. If Claude does most of your work, your old plan includes it and the new one does not.

Do not buy Cursor from a reseller. Cursor says subscriptions are only sold directly, and accounts bought elsewhere may be suspended.
