Fathom is an AI meeting notetaker. After you connect your calendar, it joins your video calls as a bot participant, records and transcribes the conversation, and sends you a structured summary — key points, decisions, action items — within a few minutes of the call ending. The free plan is the product

Fathom's strategy is unusually legible: give individuals the core product free forever, and charge teams for the collaboration layer.

The free plan includes unlimited meeting recordings, transcription, and the core AI summary. It is not a trial and not a teaser — a solo consultant, recruiter, or founder can run their entire meeting-notes workflow on it indefinitely. Its Pro plan at $10/month (billed annually) is the cheapest paid tier of the three, and its integration catalogue — Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, and dozens more — is the broadest. For a sales team that needs every call summarised into the CRM automatically, Fireflies at $10/user is a better-priced fit than Fathom's $19/user Team plan.

Who Fathom is not for

Do not use Fathom if you need to transcribe audio files, interviews recorded on a phone, or in-person conversations. Fathom only processes live video meetings it attends as a participant. Do not use Fathom if your meetings routinely involve parties who cannot be recorded — legal consultations, medical conversations, negotiations with counterparties who refuse recording bots. The visible bot is a feature in most contexts and a dealbreaker in these.

Do not pay for the Team plan if you are not connecting a CRM. The $19/user/month tier exists for sales and customer-success workflows; a team that just wants shared meeting notes can mostly coordinate on free individual accounts and shared summary links.

And do not treat any AI notetaker as a substitute for attention.
