For developers using AI for code completion, debugging, or architecture questions, ChatGPT is the stronger tool. Where Gemini has a practical advantage is the context window. Gemini Advanced's 1 million tokens can hold roughly 750,000 words — the equivalent of 10 novels. ChatGPT Plus caps at 128,000 tokens. Gemini Advanced is $19.99/month as part of Google One AI Premium. That plan also includes 2TB of Google Drive storage, which has standalone value if you are already paying for Google storage.

ChatGPT Plus is $20/month and includes GPT-4o, DALL-E 3 image generation, voice mode, and the GPT store. It does not include extra storage.

At these price points, the storage bundle makes Gemini slightly better value if you were already going to pay for Google One storage. If you were not, both are $20/month for a capable AI assistant, and the choice comes down to ecosystem fit rather than price.

ChatGPT Pro at $200/month and Gemini Business (Workspace add-on pricing) serve heavy enterprise users. At those tiers, the comparison becomes more complex and depends on team size, integration requirements, and existing contracts. Who should use which

Use Gemini Advanced if you or your team works primarily in Google Workspace. The Gmail and Docs integration removes enough daily friction to justify the subscription on its own. The 1 million token context window is a bonus for anyone working with long documents regularly.

Use ChatGPT Plus if you want the broadest feature set from one tool: image generation, voice mode, a large plugin library, and strong coding performance.
