Wix is a website builder that also hosts the site. The Wix Help Center describes a Wix site as a standard HTML5 site built with Wix's technology that has to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers, so building and hosting are one purchase.

The free plan includes web hosting, the drag-and-drop editor, no-code design features and thousands of templates. Wix also offers an AI website builder, which it describes as going from a prompt to a website in minutes, and its plans page lists AI creation tools among the things its paid plans include. As with every builder in the AI website builders group, the first draft is a starting point: most of the work is editing it.

Wix sells Light, Core, Business and Business Elite on top of the free plan. Per the plans page we checked on November 1, 2026, Light gives 2 GB of storage and 2 site collaborators, Core 50 GB, 5 collaborators and the first payment features (accept payments, basic eCommerce, scheduling and services), Business 100 GB and 10 collaborators with standard eCommerce, and Business Elite unlimited storage, 100 collaborators and an advanced developer platform.

We could not verify US dollar prices. The page shows prices by location, includes tax in the figures it displays, and says USD amounts are for reference only. It also says displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions paid in full at purchase. On renewals, the Wix Help Center says a price update applies to new subscriptions and to plan renewals, and the free domain voucher is not included when you renew. Treat the first-year price as a starting point and check the renewal amount in your account before the term ends.

Wix's help article on exporting or embedding a site elsewhere is direct: the site needs to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers. You can buy a domain from another provider and connect it to a Wix site, but the site itself does not move.

Wix suits a small business or personal site that wants one provider for the editor, hosting, domain and, on Core and above, payments. The free plan makes it easy to try before paying, and the 14-day money-back guarantee covers the first paid upgrade.

It suits you less if you need to own the code, want a fixed and predictable renewal price, or are building an app with logins and data, in which case Lovable or Bolt are the better fit.
